The Machame Route is one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is known for its beautiful landscapes and varied terrain.
The route approaches Kilimanjaro from the south and passes through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and high-altitude landscapes before reaching the summit.
The longer version of the route provides additional time for acclimatization.
Best suited for: Travelers looking for scenic landscapes and a classic camping experience.

The Marangu Route is one of the oldest and most established routes on Kilimanjaro. Unlike most other routes, trekkers sleep in mountain huts rather than tents.
The route approaches the mountain from the southeast and uses the same trail for both ascent and descent.
The 6-day itinerary provides more time for acclimatization than the shorter option.
Best suited for: Travelers who prefer hut accommodation and a straightforward trail.

The Northern Circuit is the longest established route on Kilimanjaro and takes trekkers around much of the northern side of the mountain.
Its longer itinerary provides extensive time for acclimatization and allows trekkers to experience different sides of Kilimanjaro. The route is suitable for travelers who have enough time for a longer mountain experience.
Best suited for: Trekkers who want a longer itinerary, extensive scenery, and additional acclimatization time.

The Umbwe Route is known for its steep terrain and direct approach toward the southern side of Kilimanjaro. It is generally considered a more demanding route, particularly during the early stages. Because the route gains altitude relatively quickly, a longer itinerary can provide more time for acclimatization.
Best suited for: Experienced and physically prepared trekkers looking for a more challenging route.
