Embark on an unforgettable 8-day adventure along the Lemosho Route, one of the most scenic approaches to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Beginning on the mountain's western side, this route takes you through lush rainforest, the beautiful Shira Plateau, dramatic alpine landscapes, and the rugged terrain surrounding the summit.

The longer itinerary provides opportunities for gradual acclimatization while allowing you to experience Kilimanjaro's diverse environments. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views, explore distinctive geological features, and experience the rewarding challenge of climbing Africa's highest mountain.

Supported by professional mountain guides and a dedicated trekking crew, you will work toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. The climb requires preparation, determination, and respect for the effects of altitude. Reaching the summit is never guaranteed.

After breakfast, travel to Londorossi Gate for registration and the beginning of your Kilimanjaro trek. Enter the montane rainforest and follow a forest trail surrounded by lush vegetation, moss-covered trees, and birdlife.

Continue at a comfortable pace to Mti Mkubwa Camp, also known as Big Tree Camp, where your mountain crew will prepare camp and dinner.

Trekking time: Approximately 3–4 hours
Elevation: Londorossi Gate, approximately 2,100 m; Mti Mkubwa Camp, approximately 2,820 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

Leave the rainforest behind as the trail climbs into open moorland. Enjoy changing views of the surrounding landscape as you approach the Shira Plateau.

The trek becomes more exposed as you gain elevation, offering a striking contrast to the forest environment of the previous day.

Trekking time: Approximately 5–6 hours
Elevation: Mti Mkubwa Camp, approximately 2,820 m; Shira 1 Camp, approximately 3,610 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

Continue across the scenic Shira Plateau, enjoying broad views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic landscape. The relatively open terrain provides opportunities to appreciate the mountain's scale while maintaining a steady trekking pace.

Arrive at Shira 2 Camp and spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the higher elevations ahead.

Trekking time: Approximately 3–5 hours
Elevation: Shira 1 Camp, approximately 3,610 m; Shira 2 Camp, approximately 3,850 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

Today's route climbs toward Lava Tower, approximately 4,630 meters, through the high-altitude alpine desert. Stop for lunch and rest, subject to weather and trail conditions.

Afterward, descend toward Barranco Camp. This climb-high, sleep-lower approach is designed to support acclimatization, although it does not eliminate the risk of altitude sickness.

Trekking time: Approximately 6–8 hours
Elevation: Shira 2 Camp, approximately 3,850 m; Lava Tower, approximately 4,630 m; Barranco Camp, approximately 3,960 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

Begin the day by tackling the famous Barranco Wall, a steep and scenic section that requires careful footing and attention to your guide's instructions.

Continue across ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp. Enjoy views of the surrounding mountain terrain before resting and preparing for the next stage.

Trekking time: Approximately 4–5 hours
Elevation: Barranco Camp, approximately 3,960 m; Karanga Camp, approximately 4,035 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

After breakfast, climb through alpine desert terrain toward Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. The route becomes increasingly rocky and exposed as you approach the higher slopes of Kibo.

Upon arrival, enjoy an early dinner and rest. Your guide will review the summit plan and help you prepare your warm clothing, headlamp, water, and other essential equipment.

Trekking time: Approximately 3–5 hours
Elevation: Karanga Camp, approximately 4,035 m; Barafu Camp, approximately 4,673 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain camp

Begin the summit attempt around midnight, climbing slowly toward Stella Point on the crater rim. Continue toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters if your health, weather, and trail conditions allow.

Celebrate your achievement at the summit and take photographs before starting the descent. Return toward Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

This is a demanding day involving many hours of walking at high altitude. Follow your guide's instructions, conserve energy, and report any symptoms of altitude sickness immediately.

Trekking time: Approximately 10–14 hours or longer
Elevation: Barafu Camp, approximately 4,673 m; Uhuru Peak, 5,895 m; Mweka Camp, approximately 3,100 m
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, according to the operator's summit-day meal plan
Accommodation: Mountain camp

After breakfast, continue descending through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete the park exit formalities and receive your summit certificate if you reached the designated summit point.

Meet your driver for a transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you can rest after completing your climb.
